AMUL stands for Anand Milk Union Limited. It is a milk product cooperative dairy company based at the small town of Anand in Gujarat state of India. Amul is the largest producer of milk product and milk in India. The organization is credited with bringing the white revolution in India and is hailed as a successful co-operative business model that has really empowered the village men and women. It has created mini-entrepreneurs out of ordinary village women.
Today, AMUL is a renowned brand which is managed by the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF). This cooperative body is owned by more than three million milk producers and its products are available in more than forty countries. During the years 2014 and 2015, its revenue was more than three billion dollar.
Amul was established in 1946 as a cooperative dairy in a small town of Anand in Khaira district in the state of Gujarat. This company was founded by Dr. Verghese Kurien and it is a start of white revolution.

Amul produces a wide range of milk products like flavored milk, cheese, Butter, Ghee, Dahi, Milk powder, Chocolate, Shrikhand, Ice cream and many other types of dairy products. It has also launched a brown beverage; Amul Pro similar to Horlicks and Bournvita. In 2006, it has launched its first sports drink by the name of Stamina. The most famous product of Amul is Amul butter. Amul gains much popularity with a new poster/ billboard every month for the last 50 years. The inspiration behind the poster is a current event, idea or happening.
