What is the full form of PCC


PCC: Police Clearance Certificate

PCC stands for Police Clearance Certificate. It is issued to Indian Passport holders when they apply for long term visa, immigration, residential status, or employment abroad. It is a legal document issued by a Government Agency or the Police Department to certify that the applicant has no criminal records. It is required by Indian citizens who want to migrate to a foreign country for the scope of employment, residential stay, etc. People going abroad as a tourist are not required to have this certificate. It may take over a week to get a PCC, so you should start the process early.

Eligibility to Acquire the PCC:

The applicant is required to have an Indian passport and a valid address proof. The current address of the applicant must be the same as in the passport and other supporting documents.

There are many ways to apply or get the PCC in India, one of which is Online Form Submission: The steps involved in this method are as follows:

Online Form Submission
  1. Register through Passport Seva Online Portal. On the Home Page, click on the "Register Now" link.
  2. Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal using the Login Id created in the previous step.
  3. Click on the "Apply for Police Clearance Certificate" Link.
  4. Fill the required details and submit.
  5. Then click on the "Pay and Schedule Appointment" Link on the "View Saved/Submitted Applications" screen to schedule an appointment.
  6. Now you have to make an online payment for booking the appointment. Then click the "Print Application Receipt" link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/ Appointment Number.
  7. You may carry the printout of the Application receipt, though it is no longer required as you can use the SMS with your appointment details as a proof of appointment while visiting the Passport Office.
  8. Visit the mentioned Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO) along with your original documents.
