VTU: Visvesvaraya Technological University

VTU stands for Visvesvaraya Technological University. It is one of the largest Technological Universities in India providing Engineering and Technical Education including Research and Innovation. It was established in 1998 to fulfil the demand for trained and experienced technical manpower by the Indian industries.

VTU Full Form

VTU's head office is at Belgaum, and it has four regional offices, which are its Revenue Divisional Head Quarters, at Mysuru, Bengaluru, Kalaburagi and Belagavi. The Regional offices are established in accordance with the provisions under section 18 of Chapter V of VTU Act 1994, for effective administration.

It has 218 affiliated colleges, one constituent college and 17 autonomous colleges which offer undergraduate courses in 35 disciplines, PG program in 94 disciplines and Ph. D, and M.Sc. (Eng.) with research programs. It has more than 4 lakh students who are studying in institutes affiliated to the University. Furthermore, it also has 13 Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) centres in various affiliated colleges and 16 extension centres for offering PG programs.

Today, VTU enjoys worldwide electronic presence as it has established data network that interconnects VTU campus, regional offices, and all of its affiliated colleges. It is planning to open its regional campuses in Mysuru, Kalaburagi, and Bengaluru.
