What is the full form of USA?


USA: United States of America

USA stands for United States of America. It is also abbreviated as U.S. (United States). It is a country of North America, which is a federal republic of 50 states. It includes 48 conterminous states and Alaska and the island state of Hawaii. It is bordered by Canada on the north, by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, by the Gulf of Mexico on the South and by the Pacific Ocean on the West. Its capital is Washington, D.C.

It is the fourth-largest country in the world after Russia, Canada, and China. It is twice the size of the European Union. The currency of the US is the US dollar (USD). It has no official language, however, English is spoken across the country. Its total geographical area is 9,833,517 sq. km. and total population as of 2020 is 331,002,600. The national bird and symbol of the USA is a bald eagle.

Geography of USA:

It has a diverse topography. In the west, high mountains can be seen, the central part is plain, hills and low mountains are present in the eastern regions. Alaska has rugged mountains and river valleys and Hawaii landscape mostly exhibit volcanic topography. The climate of the U.S. is also diverse. Although it is mostly temperate, it is tropical in Hawaii and Florida, arctic in Alaska, semiarid in the plains and arid in the Great Basin of the southwest.

The law-making or legislature of the country is Congress of the United States. It comprises two houses; the Senate and the House of Representatives. So, it is known as a bicameral legislature. There are 100 senators in this system; two from each state. The representatives are 435. The supreme court of the US comprises nine justices who are selected by the president but must be approved by Congress.
